Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading program sponsored by individual schools in the counties served by Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL). LARL is in no way affiliated with the AR program, however library staff can help find books for the AR program. Many of the titles listed are included in our collection as well as your favorite books and most of the “classic” children's books that are on the lists.

Library staff can help find the right book. Here are some tips:

• Bring a copy of your school's AR list or a list of several books you are interested in.
• Use the Library’s Online Catalog to see if the book you want is available. You can also do this at home if you have Internet access by requesting a book through the Online Catalog. You can also call your local branch library.
• Remember that other students are looking for similar books. If a copy of the book you want to read is checked-out or your branch/LINK site does not have a copy of it, in most cases the book can be borrowed from another branch of LARL or from another library system. This may take a week or more. Ask library staff if you need additional assistance.
• To make sure you get the books you want to read, come to the library a few weeks before you are scheduled to take your test.
• Don't be afraid to try something new, you might enjoy it.
• If you like a book by an author, chances are you will like other books by that author. Check your list to see if you can take a test on other books by that author.

Please note: AR tests are not available at any of LARL’s branch libraries or LINK sites. LARL does not label books with reading levels or points. AR lists vary by school.

Many schools in the LARL region have AR lists available online. The following list will be periodically updated.
